Introduction to Management

Moving into a role where you are leading people is a significant step. As a manager, you have new duties, in addition to the scope of business responsibilities.

Developing Your Team

In this course, we will explore the nature of working with people, of connecting with and developing your people. We’ll examine the key practice of delegation and to develop your “management muscle” over your “task muscle.”

Project Management Fundamentals

At its core, project management involves managing activities, resources, and time to achieve a given goal or objective. In this course, our objective is to understand key elements and tools used in managing projects effectively.

Performance Management

We will determine how to establish goals and objectives with your team and go beyond the job description – making sure that individuals know what they are doing, clarity of assignments, and how they will be evaluated.

Developing Yourself

In this course, we will look at your natural leadership style – what your “default” preferences are, for how you lead others. This includes some areas of strength in leading from your own style, and some potential challenges or blind spots.

Management Fundamentals Certificate Assessment

This course is the final assessment for the Management Fundamentals Certificate. All other courses for the certificate's completion must be completed prior to this course.

Target Audience

This certificate is intended for collegiate students and young professionals with little to no background in management who are interested in taking on a managerial role in the future or have begun in their first management role.

Eligibility/Prerequisites

To participate in this certificate, individuals must be an initiated member of Alpha Kappa Psi. There are no additional educational prerequisites.

Assessments Included

To demonstrate learning and be awarded the certificate, individuals will complete ungraded formative knowledge checks throughout each course, as well as a scored cumulative examination as part of the final reflection course.

He has worked with clients and segments across Healthcare (Provider-Health Systems, Payor, Pharmaceutical-Life Sciences), Public Sector, Insurance, Communications, Distribution, Finance and Manufacturing. Examples of Mike’s impact include co-developing marketing strategy and campaigns for a territory of Independent Software Vendors, which grew to contribute over 20% of tracked revenue; and managing account relationships, business development and communication at 10 leading IBM clients in Indiana, and a network of Business Partners nationwide. After leaving IBM, Mike was led into the coaching arena. He has worked with hundreds of individuals seeking help with career exploration, advancement, mid-career transition/professional rediscovery, and with organizations focused on talent and leadership development. He works with people one-to-one and with universities, public and non-profit organizations, and multinational corporations, including: Indiana Department of Workforce Development’s WorkOne system Alpha Kappa Psi Business Fraternity Butler University Lacy School of Business (Leadership Coaching with Butler’s MBA program) Women Working in Technology (sponsored and hosted by Ball State University) George P.
